Beer Log #1 - Blushing Monk
Posted by onelin Sun, 11 Nov 2007 00:48:00 GMT
This is my first entry in what I hope will be a regular beer log. I enjoy sampling all kinds of random beers that I find at my favorite package store, and it’s about time I start writing about them.
Tonight I saw a catchy bottle of beer, “Blushing Monk”. A standard 22oz, boasting raspberry flavor and 12.3% alcohol per volume (making it no slouch). I quite enjoy my belgians at 8-9%, but over 12 seems pushing it.
As I opened the bottle, I immediately noticed the strong scent of raspberry - I’m not a huge fruit buff, but it was a pleasant smell. Upon pouring, I noticed how deeply red the beer is. My first taste did not disappoint. I was expecting bitterness, but I didn’t experience any. The raspberry results in a tartness similar to cranberries, but masks any bad taste. It’s probably not for everyone, but I know this won’t be the last time I drink Blushing Monk.

Being my first beer log, I don’t have a rating system yet…so I will summarize with big on taste, and big on buzz. Above average caliber.
(This is also my first post from my macbook)
Cheers
